How Do You Know if You Have Heart Disease?
The major protein that anchors every single type of cholesterol carrying particle is APOB lipoprotein B. And by understanding APOB, you get a ton of information about somebody's atherogenic risk. So it all comes back to how does heart disease happen? It starts out with cholesterol getting into the walls of blood vessels, causing inflammation and leading to plaque development. But cholesterol can't travel through the bloodstream by itself. It needs to be carried by proteins because cholesterol is fat soluble and blood is water.
