What Is Absolute Necessity?
classical theists have long been aware of a particular problem. The problem is this, if god wills or intends to bring about x, then x cannot fail to obtain. And so many major christian thinkers have tried to ure out how to avoid the implication that the created universe, and like all history, is absolutely necessary. So there's a difference between absolute necessity and what's called hypothetical or conditional necessity.
