The Unpredictability of Crime
There's a tendency that if there isn't a comfortable narrative about the proliferation of guns about racism, the media doesn't want to cover crime. I think one of the reasons why crime feels scarier now is the unpredictability of it. There's good reason to believe that a lot of people with mental and mental health issues are getting more violent than they once were. And so you can see how that would fuel people who are on the bubble of craziness or neurodivergent.
