The Challenges of Streaming Integration in Estuary
The system has an underlying data lake, which is in a mutable log. So materialization can then take those events that are a lot more aggregated and low level detail than kind of reconstruct the view of the world on it. Another interesting use case is for people who are very heavily invested in microservices or maybe your streaming information from multiple different data stores. It's probably just like calling a webhook, doing an HTTP post, so basically it's out of end data somewhere.

Batch vs. streaming is a long running debate in the world of data integration and transformation. Proponents of the streaming paradigm argue that stream processing engines can easily handle batched workloads, but the reverse isn't true. The batch world has been the default for years because of the complexities of running a reliable streaming system at scale.
