Having upwardly biased correlations among the factors, that is a problem from the point of view of establishing discriminant validity. These are real and present dangers in these models. The more you quash real cross-loadings, not just the little randomly things that happen, the more that has to be relieved somewhere. That's what ESEM hopefully allows us to do.
