The Battle of Licolis in 67 BC

Licolis' army refused to budge and he was forced to withdraw south. The next year Mithridades moved back into Pontus and swept through the residual Roman garrisons left there, taking back his old kingdom. A pro-Pompaean contingent in Rome argued that Licolis had completely lost control of his army and ought to be recalled. Without their machinations, Licolis probably would have beaten Mithridades by now.
