Python is in addition to being a Python interpreter, it's also a platform for building other interpreted languages. It seems like those are being built to serve as a particular market that I am very disconnected from. Another one that jumps to mind is if you're building editors like the PyCharm guys. So I don't know what the real motivation is, but it just seems a little odd to me and everyone I talk to also doesn't care about type hints.
