The church of the New Jerusalem is a church that people may not have heard of now. It was based on Swedish mystic, Emmanuel Swedenborg, who was popular religious figure for about 100 years following his death in 1772. John E. Appleseed embraced it and actually started preaching the New Church teachings while he traveled about.
