The Words of the Righteous Are Precious
The words of a person reveal the state of their heart and whether they are wise or foolish. In verse 15, his strong city describes how the rich man thinks that it gives him security. But ill gotten or foolish wealth is no such source of security at all. The slanderer conceals his hatred while backbiting and spreading rumours. By contrast, the prudent person knows when it is time to speak and when it's time to be silent.
