The Impact of Drought on the Ancient Maya

Evidence from the maya region also points to severe drought at this time. My sense is that drought would probably have had its greatest impact on agriculture. It could be devastating, because really so much of the agriculture there depends just on rainfall. On top of things like extensive deforestation, extensive soil loss, very dense populations that required lot of food. Those things in combination may have been what was so devastating at that time.
