The Importance of Imitating Your Kids to Understand Theory of Mind
Think about your toddler and they understand intention. They start to understand that people are motivated by desires. And then we might point to food and rub our tummies and say, I'm hungry. Our kids understand, oh, okay, that is a way of telling me that hunger's happening. That's really part of why imitation is so important because we are learning by imitating when we're little. We recognize an imitation that there's attention, intention and imitation. All this coming together helps kids internalize these concepts that ultimately unfold to theory of mind.
