The Evolution of Monotheism
In the early strata of the Bible it is certainly it reads as though the god of Israel was simply the god of this one tribe, one god among many who the Jews worship because that was their god. Only later do you have this evolution toward classical monotheism, the infinite eternal omni, everything god. There is no polytheist dogma. The fact that you have many gods also mean you have many opinions and so the Certainly many of the polytheists who I have talked to who are familiar with the Bible do in fact interpret the Old Testament very much in terms of the partisans of one day at either god of Israel presenting their version of events.
