The Census Question in the District of Maryland
A lot would have to happen inside the Census Bureau even to generate a new proposal to include the question. It seems unlikely that they'd be able to do that in a way that would withstand scrutiny in time this round. Though I certainly take the point it could be possible in the future. But it's just one of those questions that will remain unanswered.
