There was a major attitude shift towards progress in the twentieth century. People were more sceptical of anything that smelled like progress. And i think, you know, about 50 years later, we've started to reap some of the bitter fruits of that. The fundamental way I see this is that these deep attitudes are growing up through education and so on.
