I came to that realization actually before even 2019, I think, and I was very ambivalent all the way through. There's this awful kind of moral deadlock where people like me got to feel self-righteous about ultimately being right and vindicated. But somewhere in that, there's just a tension between representative parliamentary democracy and direct plebiscite democracy. And it can be those two things at the same time. The remainers were sort of genuinely behaving like a sort of grumpy Aungshian regime who'd lost their privileges and were feeling a bit embittered about that.
