Is There a New Respect for the Polish State?
Polish state was between Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union. It wasn't authoritarian regime from 1926 war. But nevertheless, when you compare the levels of stress and anxiety in a place like Poland in 1938 compared to America in 2001 it's interesting. There's an interesting question about diplomacy here as you know, which is that if you're Warsaw, what do you do? The Polish leadership did try to preserve a policy of equal distance between the Soviets and the Germans.
