Soanex: It feels like there two different ethical communities. One emerged out of a kind of cantian, universalist approach to ethics and your approachis more hedalian. But i mean, maybe this is a good point to try to draw out just what is distinctive about ethical inquiry. In a very rough sense, you could break inquiry down in three ways. There's some forms of inquiry where you can actually get an objective answer which answers the question once and for all at once. And then on the other hand, you have inquiry that's asking after people's preferences and likes and dislikes. The quest is whether those ethical norms or standards can survive reflective scrutiny.
