How to Write a Song That Fits the Words

For Scott they had one that he had to write the words to the tune and then for them, for you you wrote the song and then they wrote the music to fit with the words. Did you come up with some sort of metrical scheme or syllable counting or something to make his life easier? A little bit, although I wasn't entirely sure where the song was going metrically. So, and they actually worked a lot of the lines through in different sort of background choruses so ultimately it didn't actually make a lot of difference as far as the meter of the actual lines and syllables.
