In the dissertation, apologies is another tactic. It's an attempt, usually, to make thing go away. So they might get to a point where they need to wave a white flag and acknowledge that, yes, this happened. And perhaps they have no excuses left. There aren't any justifications left. They can't escape accountability, but maybe they can escape penalty or serious repercussions,. Even by giving apology in the hope that people will then receive that apology and and thay, everyone can then just move on.
