Peter the Great Reformer - The Great Northern War

In 16 99, the king of poland invited the russians and the danes into a secret alliance against the swedes. Peter also wanted to break the independent power of the orthodox church. He then annexed vast monastic estates, bringing under his control extensive land and surf holdings. And as if it wasn't bad enough that the old nobility was basically being cut out of power, peter also decided that the russian nobility needed to get with the times and adopt western looks or they would look hopelessly backwards any time anybody laid eyes on them.
