Sepsis has been known by a lot of different names in the past, through from bloodp soning to septicemia and even blood rot back in the eleventh century. The body's exaggerated reaction to an infection causes severe collateral damage to its own organs and tissues. World health organization estimates that it kills about 11 million people around the world every year. Thankfully, prompt diagnosis and treatment can turn tables on the condition.
