Peggy Parks Miller is the niece of Clarence Norris, one of the nine Scottsboro boys falsely accused of rape. The trial was rushed and the defendants were given inadequate representation. All white jury found them guilty and the judge handed out death sentences. Amongst all the publicity for the Scottsboro case Led Belly recorded his track Woke advising listeners to stay woke.
