The vast majority of countries and that are covered by the currencies would actually like to use their home currencies for payments. They would like to keep using dollars and euros and yen for their day to day payments. Think of it as a true global settlement network for whatever asset you want over time. I think, you know, that's where it's going.
David Marcus is the CEO and co-founder of Lightspark, building core infrastructure on the Lightning Network. Most recently he led Meta's payments and crypto efforts. In 2018, David started Diem (fka Libra). He joined Meta, then called Facebook, in 2014 to lead Messenger. Previously, he was PayPal's President. A lifelong entrepreneur, Marcus launched two companies in Europe, then founded mobile payments company Zong in Silicon Valley, which was acquired by PayPal in 2011.
