The roots of the Yardbirds lie in a group of school friends in Richmond, London. They were art school kids who were obsessed with Sonny Terry and Jimmy Reed. The band's big break came when the Rolling Stones sang with Andrew Oldham. Eric Clapton was well known on the local scene as someone who was quite good on guitar.
