Feminism in the Victorian Period
The Victorians were obsessed with respectability in the Victorian period. So much so that they ostracized women within their own movement. The white stripe in the suffragette trickle or is to indicate that we feminists are pure. There was this obsession that if we were unrepectable, you know, we were seen as promiscuous as scantily clad that we would be bringing feminism into disrepute.
