Most of the emoji work that happens in my life happens in Slack, which is obviously sponsor of the show and we've been thinking about ways to use Slack differently. I find that the heavy emoji usage is a way to like bring emotion and human vibes back into the conversation so that it doesn't feel like a chatbot. And honestly, sometimes I think I'm overdoing it, but to me, it helps to add that extra layer of information. In some ways, I'm mad that there aren't more of them.

Emojis might seem like all fun and games—but they can also speak a thousand words about a company’s culture. If they’re used, how they’re used, who uses them, whose posts always gets peppered with dozens of fire or rocket ship reactions—that’s all pretty juicy (and potentially spicy) information about an organization’s sense of camaraderie, connection, trust, agreements…you name it.
