CHAPTER

The Adaptive Responses to Cold Exposure

When you're getting cold, your body is trying to reasquibilate or create homeostasis. The adaptations here are your mitochondria become uncoupled. And this uncoupling process actually helps to create heat where your mitochondria specifically in the fat cells start to sort of waste energy,. which sounds bad, but it's actually a good thing in fat tissue. This has recently been studied by scientists in Poland where they had subjects undergo cold water during the winter and looked at glutathione levels.
