At the height of the roman empire, there was a ton of work for entertainers. The catholic church went on to ban theatre and circus. So they band theatre and circus rmances in five 68. But performers kept working. They would just roll into town, perform in public for as long as they could. When it looked like they were going to get caught, they would just pack up and move to the next town. These things ae sort of illegal, but it takes a while for the cops to get there.
