The Story of Gustav and Fritz in Buchenwalt
Fritz and gustav were put to work in Buchenwalt as truck drivers. Worked on huge railway trucks filled with four tons of stone each. Would have to push and drag these things up extremely steep hill,. On loose stones, in ill fitting, poor quality shoes. They had to do so many in a single day that they would race them down the hill. Often jump the tracks, crash into oncoming trucks. Once you sustained any kind of serious injury in bucgenwalt, you were as good as dead because there was no real medical treatment.
