In the 1960s a bank could refuse to issue a credit card to an unmarried woman even if she was married her husband was required to cosign. It wasn't until 1974 it became illegal to refuse a credit card based on gender that's crazy okay so in fact checking this i also learned that most ivy league schools wouldn't accept women until the late 60s or early 1970s president kennedy once said on television we want to be sure that women are used as effectively as they can to provide a better life for our people.
