The US becomes an independent country in essence in 1783. The US capitalist class is really focused on going to war against the original inhabitants of North America, meaning the indigenous people. There's a third era of decolonization where the people are fighting national liberation movements in the so-called third world and getting the assistance of the socialist camp. And after World War II, it tries to capture colonies and compete with European colonialism. So there's that era between 1945 and 1991, which is called the Cold War.
