The first piece of making a great decision is trying to make that forecast. In the simplest sense, if I have two routes that I could choose to take to work and I choose route A over route B, whatever my values are, let's say in this case it's time,. I'm making a forecast that route A is going to get me there faster than route B. And so far, okay. Now let's think about the hidden information piece. Well, that's intervening at the belief part. So we can think about like this is a place where as an example, like bias is going to have its effect; our beliefs are biased in many different ways. They're also noisy
Annie Duke is author, corporate speaker, and consultant in the decision-making space. For two decades, Annie was one of the top poker players in the world. In 2004, she bested a field of 234 players to win her first World Series of Poker bracelet. The same year, she triumphed in the $2 million winner-take-all, invitation-only World Series of Poker Tournament of Champions. She retired from the game in 2012. Annie is author of multiple wonderful books, including Thinking in Bets, How We Decide, and her latest being Quit: The Power of Knowing When to Walk Away.
