The Importance of Animation in User Experience
The word animation comes from lifelike, animus, anime, to have characteristics of life. Moving things tend to be alive. Things that aren't moving tend to be at rest and or dead. Animacy is a word that specifically refers to how alive something appears to be. The world is animated. We just take it so much for granted.
