There were also research libraries, and there's two important ones that i want to mention here at this time. One of them was opened by john jacob astor in 18 forty eight after his death the same year. The other is uptown, the lennox library, opened by bibliophile james lennox. It would later be torn down and replaced with a mansion slash future museum, built by henry clay frick.
