Adam golinski, a great psychologist, wrote an essay once about how he gave negative or critical feedback to a junior person. He said thing that was partly influenced by his mood, but he thought nothing of it. And it turns out that it did have an outsized impact on this more junior person. When your boss says something that really offends you or hurts your feelings, if you could tell them in a way that starts off with the assumption that your boss didn't mean to do lasting harm.
