The Anomaly of Guyana
Although Guyana is physically in South America, they're not like most South American nations. They don't speak Spanish or Portuguese and they don't view themselves as South Americans. So you'll hear Guyanaese referring to themselves as being Caribbean - even hosting the headquarters of Caracom. And so Guyana is an interesting place. It's a mix of ethnicities reflecting that historical contour. But it's also a place that is in many respects caught in a circumstance.
