Agricola Stream Game - Is This Really a Competitive Game?

I was watching an Agricola stream just last week and had my mind blown by something. I said in the chat, why did they do that? And Lumen was like, oh, it's actually the 100% correct play because this person is not have problem with food. What they've done is they've left open a advantageous spot for other people so that now there are better actions for them left on the board for their next turn. It would just be to and the more discovery, like the more doors you can go through, like, you know, like  this really modifies how I'm going to play future games.
