We Can't Afford to Build Social Housing
I've stayed in hotel rooms for two weeks in a row, it's unpleasant. You can't prepare your own food in a hotel room. The dignity that gives you a sense of meaning in life doesn't exist in emergency accommodation. We have a very up system whereby tax money that comes from if you work and you pay taxes is given to people who own hotels. They are not building social housing. If you give that family access to social housing, they would have the ability to cook their own food, the ability to wash,. the ability to have a degree of privacy. These people can't have that. Yes, we can afford to build social housing. We don't.
