The Role of the Goddess in Fertility
Fertility is very much, it's very frequently cast as a masculine male attribute of the divine. So quite often you get female deities who are responsible for kind of shaping new life in the womb or overlooking sort of breastfeeding and lactation. And no sorts of roles are then expanded to adult worshipers if you like. But more often not, it's the male or masculine deities that are particularly associated with conception - both animal and human.
