Hatoiyama Kazuo and the Kensetto

After the fiasco of 1898, Hato Hirabumi recognized that political parties could not simply be ignored or combated with government-backed parties. As such, he took it upon himself to organize his own party and to try and include some members of the Minto opposition within it. The result was the Seiyuki, or Friends of Government Party, formed in 1902 out of a very weird amalgamation of bureaucrats, military men, and pro-government types in general. Most of the liberals who joined the Seiy Suzuki were former Giutto people from Itagaki Tyske's side of things. But Hatoiyama Kazuo would end up joining the Seiyki himself
