How Does Culture Affect the Way We Perceive Music?
Music is perceived in the sense of perception, not emotion or feeling. Culture affects the way that we perceive time and color differently by our cultural background. For example, when we listen to tempo, we know that a faster tempo signifies more energy. When we hear something which is louder, we perceive it as being higher in terms of its dominance. So how is iness conveyed in western music, through harmony.
