The DARPA's Sonic Projector Program Could Provide Special Forces With Surreptitious Audio Communication

DARPA is working on laser weapons that can transmit snippets of human speech across long distances. With enough laser bursts fired at the right frequencies, the plasma vibrations can actually mimic human speech. The Air Force has experimented with microwaves that create sounds in people's head which they've called a possible psychological warfare tool. Sonic projector technology is based on the nonlinear interaction of sound in air translating an ultrasonic signal into audible sound.
