It was the first one where I decided that I could make a film about politics and power, which didn't actually have any politicians in it. Because I'd just worked out that what was really fascinating about our age and what had led up to it. Where there are all these things that shaped the way we thought we felt. Were as important in shaping our lives as what the lawmakers decided to do within my future. And also they are endlessly reported on in quite rigid ways. The story of all those, of how culture shapes our lives.
