Did Jesus Have to Die for Man to Live Forever?

In Genesis three, God says we need to remove him out of the garden lest he eat from the tree of life and live forever. He could have allowed them in their fallen state to eating from the tree. But removing sin from you like from Genesis three, what God is saying is, yeah, they could have lived forever, but they'd have been sinful and I'm not interested in that. So anyway, rabbit trail, but I've always thought that was interesting. No one who abides in him, Jesus keeps on sinning. And no one who has ever seen him or known him.
