The Roadside Picnic
The set up is that all over the world are these scientists who find that the universe is sort of conspiring against them. So they're on the point of making some kind of Einsteinian breakthrough with the pencil and a piece of paper. This paradigm shift is about to happen and then someone will suddenly arrive with like a delivery or some friend from out of town of their girlfriend. And before they know it they'll have drunk a lot of alcohol and be involved in some kind of seductive situation.
