The Bomb Scare at the Grand National
Charles was a man responsible for getting 70,000 people off the site. Security staff just opened all the gates everywhere really so people could move out. Despite word getting out that the Irish Republican army known as the IRA had called in two bomb threats at the course to disrupt the race people were generally in a good mood. Those racegoers who had enjoyed a few drinks decided to see what the horses usually had to face and clambered over the fences themselves.
