In this one, we explore why humans across cultures have intentionally entered non-ordinary states of consciousness, and how practices like fasting, isolation, and ritual deprivation can open profound psychological and mythic terrain. Drawing on esotericism, Jung and mythopoetic psychology, we talk about meaning-making, initiation, and why modern life may be starving us of transformative experiences.
Erick also recounts a striking moment when what appeared to be a star or orb seemed to actively engage with him โ moving, observing, and inducing what felt like a reconfiguration within his psyche. Rather than fear, the experience carried a calm, reassuring quality, raising deep questions about perception, consciousness, and the nature of intelligence.
