A lot of what you think is natural to you just part of how your mind works is actually culturally internalized. A lot of these ways of thinking, these psychotechnologies, have become so second nature to us that we forget the historical origin. How do we salvage the ability to cultivate wisdom, self transcendence, enhance meaning when we can no longer use the mythological world view in which it was born? For most of us, we can't live this any more. The scientific world view is destroying the possibility of this for us.
