French Politics - The Triumvirate
The triumvirate planned to occupy a new political centre of constitutional monarchism. But as it would turn out, they were just about the only ones who had any interest in the centre. The gravity of french politics was not coalescing in the centre, but rather on the extreme edges of right and left. Only about 70 of the now hundreds of affiliated jacobin clubs responded positively to foulat overtures.
