I'm not used to hearing a lot of these things from a theologian. Scholars of religion and theologians should seriously engage with technology because it is empowering humanity in ways that were previously reserved only for gods. Probably the most pressing threat right now is nuclear. There's a professor at Stanford named Martin Hellman, who he won the Turing Prize because he invented public key encryption back in the 1970s.
